Who We Are Its 6am opening day, the sun is creeping through the mountains, and I'm thrilled to jump out of bed. I grab all of my gear and with only a cup of coffee and a bite to eat I'm ready to hit the slopes. I'm wide awake as I ride the chair and anxiously await first contact with the fresh powder below. After a short hike, I pause to admire the surroundings which can only be described as therapeutic yet intense. When I return from my moment of zen I look down and lunge forward, immediately all thoughts and worries are left behind. I'm met with an exhilarating rush of adrenaline, the snow and wind in my face, and pure happiness! For those who know this feeling, surely you can relate to our passion and commitment to winter sports and appreciate why we choose to work at the Ski Shack. For the experienced rider who hikes out of bounds to make first tracks, or for the beginner who has never even seen snow, we're here to provide you with knowledge and the right equipment to make your first or fiftieth season truly epic. After first opening as a coat store in 1977, an over shipment of red coats became a blessing during the famous blizzard of 1978. While tuning skis out of a basement we realized there was a surprising demand for winter sports equipment in Ohio. With such a successful year in the coat business we decided it was time to move upstairs and become a full blown ski shop. With the introduction of snowboarding in the early 80's we quickly got involved with what has revolutionized winter sports and become an obsession for many. We have kept up to date with the ever changing technological improvements and offer the best knowledge and service as well as the finest selection of ski and snowboarding equipment and clothing in the area. The Ski Shack has been extremely proud to represent the ski industry and to serve Columbus for all of its winter adventure needs for 30 years, and will continue to do so for seasons to come.
